Catalog description

This course provides a hands-on introduction to database principles through a combination of discussion, lecture, demonstration, and assignment activities. The course investigates solutions development from the perspective of the relational data model: fully normalized entities and attributes as a holistic data repository for business data. This course includes an introduction to intermediate database management skills such as entity-relationship diagrams, normalization, and structured query language implemented across multiple database management systems. Prerequisites: CISA 1300 or CSCI 1480 or CSEC 2300; and CISA 3321 or CISA 3343 (CISA 3343 may be taken concurrently with CISA 3365).
