This course studies art and design from the Industrial Revolution (1700/1800s Europe) to the present day through the survey of how graphic design responded to and affected international, social, political, and technological developments. This survey contextualizes on examples of identity, persuasive messages, visualization, typography, and design theories and the relationship of that work to other visual arts and design disciplines.
