Catalog description

This course will explore the philosophical foundations for professional, biomedical, and clinical ethics. Worldviews and ethical theories will be discussed, compared, and contrasted with the biblical worldview, as applied to contemporary healthcare. This course will explore the theological, philosophical and scientific foundations for human personhood and dignity, providing a framework for further study in various arenas of applied bioethics. There will be an emphasis on problem-solving through analyzing case histories and ethical conflicts. The course will seek to prepare students for patient care, practice and research by integrating ethical principles and a biblical worldview in order to better make compassionate, patient-centered decisions. Prerequisite: P1 in good standing or with approval of instructor.
