Catalog description

After 12 months of intensive study and didactic coursework, you are ready to apply clinical skills, interpersonal communication, medical knowledge, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving to real-life patient assessment, diagnosis, and management through supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPEs) in the 4-week Clinical Rotation in Pediatrics. The Pediatrics rotation is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of providing medical care for the infant, child, and adolescent with an emphasis on preventative care and patient education/counseling for both the patient and their parent/caregiver. Under supervision of the preceptor, you will also assess, diagnosis, and manage acute and chronic diseases and conditions in pediatric patients. Prerequisites: Acceptance into the PA program. Successful completion of preceding courses in PA program.
