Catalog description

In Physical Exam Techniques, you will learn the techniques and equipment needed to examine each of the body systems and begin to distinguish normal from abnormal findings. This course will emphasize the interdependence of history taking and physical exams and their importance in the clinical decision-making process. You will integrate the knowledge and skills learned in History Taking and Medical Documentation to elicit a patient-centered history and perform a complete physical exam. You will continue to practice summarizing your clinical findings by writing clinical notes and giving oral presentations. This course will consist of lectures, self-directed reading and practice, and standardized lab-based activities. Prerequisites: Acceptance into the PA program. Successful completion of preceding courses in PA program.
