Catalog description

This course provides an overview of mathematical topics from a perspective appropriate for early childhood, middle childhood, and special education majors. The topics of the course include a study of reasoning and logic, number systems and place value, concepts and algorithms for the four operations, representations for operations on whole numbers, fractions, rational numbers, and decimal numbers. This course is based on an NCTM standards-based framework and develops mathematical content proficiency required for teaching mathematics in grades PK-9. Prerequisite: Satisfy Mathematics proficiency. This course may be waived with an ACT Math subscore of 23 or higher or SAT Quantitative subscore of 570 or higher.
