This course will explore cross-cultural self-care approaches to health problems. It covers substance-based (e.g., herbs, acupuncture), mind-body (e.g., yoga, meditation), spiritual (e.g., prayer) and social (e.g., communal, familial) approaches that have been used to manage chronic diseases and promote wellness in various cultural settings. Counts as a Communication Intensive course. Counts as a Human Diversity & Commonality course. Prereq: Academic Inquiry Seminar (AIQS) or SAGES First Seminar.
