Ever wondered how an individual's unique genetic makeup can shape their response to food and influence their health? This course dives into the fascinating connection between genetics, diet, and disease prevention, offering a fresh perspective on nutrition science. It explores how genes interact with the nutrients consumed, how food can impact gene activity, and what these interactions mean for overall health and disease risk. The course provides the basic concepts and fundamental knowledge of the science behind nutrigenomics, along with an understanding of the technologies and strategies for conducting and interpreting nutritional genomic research. Graduate students who do not meet the course prerequisites may request a requisites not met permission in SIS to enroll in the class if they have taken an equivalent/similar course. When requesting permission, please be sure to adequately describe the courses taken. Offered as NTRN 344 and NTRN 444 . Prereq: BIOL 214 and NTRN 201 or Requisites Not Met permission.
