Catalog description

This course guides students through theoretically-grounded variance models required for structural equation modeling (SEM) in the quantitative portion of their research. Fundamental concepts in model testing are reinforced through path analysis, with explicit coverage of mediation -- including simple mediation, multiple mediation, and moderated mediation -- as well as interaction effects. The course also introduces the logic and practice of experimental design, covering topics such as randomization, causal identification, between- and within-subject designs, and the integration of experimental methods with variance-based modeling frameworks. Beyond analysis, the course emphasizes precise theoretical model formulation, careful interpretation of findings, and rigorous testing of data assumptions, preparing students for the model testing portion of their capstone assignments. Prereq: MGMT 681 and enrolled in the Ph.D. in Management (Accountancy, Design and Innovation or Designing Sustainable Systems) or Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior Program.
