Action Learning

Catalog description

This is an experiential course built around a live project for a real organization (your team's client). The project focuses on solving a business problem or pursuing a business opportunity. Each student will work in a team to analyze the current situation and identify related problems and/or opportunities, conduct research, creatively envision alternatives, and recommend an appropriate course of action and next steps. Students will learn a structured problem-solving approach used by many major consulting firms, and gain an understanding of project management. In addition, you will expand your professional written and oral communication skills. Equally important will be the skills you develop as you work successfully in a team on an ill-defined problem with a tight deadline and a real client. It will be your team's responsibility to satisfy your client. The Action Learning faculty will guide you through the process, and each project team has a faculty coach. Counts as a Capstone Project course. Counts as a SAGES Senior Capstone course. Prereq: (ACCT 102 or ACCT 200 ) and BAFI 355 and MKMR 201 and Senior standing with a declared Accounting or Management major.
