Catalog description
These one-credit Disciplinary Communication seminars give you a chance to explore fresh, relevant topics while developing practical communication skills you can use in classes, internships, and your future career. Each seminar focuses on a different contemporary issue or challenge in the business and professional world, ranging from persuasive storytelling, to communicating with data, to leading effective team conversations. You can take multiple sections and explore new areas each time. You'll participate in hands-on discussions, short writing assignments, and interactive activities designed to help you communicate your ideas clearly and confidently. Topics are intended to introduce students from any major to a variety of current business issues and business communication skills. No credit for repeating the same topic, but you're encouraged to try new sections as they're offered. Open to all undergraduate students from all majors. Counts as a Disciplinary Communication course. Prereq: At least Junior standing.
