Investing for Everyone

Catalog description
This course introduces students of all majors to the fundamentals of investing and how financial markets work. It is designed for students with no prior finance background who want to learn how to make informed personal investing decisions. Students will learn how to buy and sell stocks, understand exchange traded funds (ETFs), mutual funds, and hedge funds, and build simple diversified portfolios. The class will also cover how to interpret financial news and analyze stock movements. We will explore how artificial intelligence is changing investing. The course includes a stock trading simulation game and an AI-powered investing exercise to connect theory to practice. Counts as a Half-Semester Wellness/Non-movement course.
