Catalog description
To improve the depth of our understanding of American law, it is crucial to grasp our history. To that end, this seminar will read A History of American Law by Professor Lawrence Friedman. We will move through this book in weekly chunks. It offers a survey of the development of American law. The book offers insight into our economy, traditions, and social institutions. Students will work with the instructor to choose a topic and develop a thesis of interest to the student. The student will write a paper using at least some primary source materials.
