The Hague: International Tribunals Spring Break Program

This course introduces students to the law, procedure, and salient issues related to several international tribunals in based in The Hague: (1) the International Court of Justice, (2) the Permanent International Court of Arbitration, (3) the International Criminal Court Chambers, (4) the International Criminal Court Office of the Prosecutor, (5) the International Criminal Court Office of Defense Counsel, (6) the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, (7) the Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone, and (8) the Kosovo Specialist Chambers. Students will spend the week of Spring Break in The Hague, during which the class will visit each institution, meet with officials from the tribunals, and discuss the readings and experiences in a daily seminar held at Leiden University School of Law (Hague campus). The program also includes a visit to the Anne Frank House/Museum in nearby Amsterdam.
