Catalog description
Theory and application of the finite element method. Approximation theory as the basis for finite element methods. The formulations for a variety of finite elements in one, two, and three dimensions. The modeling and analysis of structural components and systems using planar, solid, and plate elements. Implementations of element formulations using Matlab. An advanced finite element analysis program will be used for analysis of structural problems. Recommended Preparation: Background in advanced mechanics and numerical analysis of structures.
