China and Green Energy Transition

Taught in Chinese, this content-driven Chinese language course aims to enhance students' linguistic communicative proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing Chinese at advanced levels. It introduces students to the recent major green movements in China, focusing on the way the green cultural, scientific, technological changes took place in relation to globalization, environment and climate protection, technology innovation, energy transition, renewable energy, and education, to meet the challenges of financial crisis, climate change, energy insecurity, and international competition. At the end of the semester, students are expected to be able to understand readings and audiovisual materials, as well as communicate and present orally and in written formats green cultural issues covered in the course. CHIN 350 is designed for English-speaking Chinese learning students to progress from the intermediate level to advanced-level Chinese using related coursework. CHIN 350D is designed for native- and near-native Chinese speaking students to progress from the advanced level to advanced-high level Chinese using related coursework. Students can only earn credit for one of the following courses: CHIN 350 , CHIN 350D , and CHIN/ASIA/ WLIT 314 . Offered as CHIN 350 and CHIN 350D .
