Microscopy in Biology

Catalog description

This course introduces the principles and applications of microscopy in biological research. Students will learn fundamental microscopy skills, including sample preparation, instrument operation, image acquisition, and image interpretation. Students will gain exposure to a range of microscopy techniques, including brightfield, phase contrast, fluorescence, and confocal imaging, depending on instrument availability. Through lectures and hands-on labs, students will gain practical experience and learn how microscopy can be applied to address biological questions. Offered as BIOL 347 and BIOL 447 . Prereq: BIOL 216L or Requisites Not Met permission.
