Applying Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain in Business and Finance

We are currently witnessing the greatest and the fastest change that business and humanity have ever experienced. The use of Artificial Intelligence in business and finance, despite already being widespread, is still at a nascent stage. The key is not just to understand what these technologies and applications are but to also recognize how numerous business and finance problems can be reframed as ones that can benefit from these new technologies. At the same time, it is vitally important to understand the risks and limitations of these very powerful technologies. In this course, we will unpack these technologies (AI and Blockchain) and separate hope from hype. The objective is to provide a practical, applied and non-quantitative exposure to these disruptive technologies, and critically examine them through a wide range of relevant business and finance use cases. This course will also provide students with key questions that they should ask in evaluating any applications that are likely to use AI or Blockchain technologies, along with the key pitfalls to be aware of before adopting them. In today's day and age, it is vitally important for all students (whether they are in business, engineering, sciences or other areas) to graduate with a sufficient understanding of these topics, as these are going to be the key drivers of business and society going forward. Prereq: Sophomore Standing.
