Catalog description
This theory and lab course provides a comprehensive study of surgical nursing, anesthesia, and dentistry procedures with hands-on experience gained through performance of essential skills with real patients undergoing anesthesia procedures. This laboratory intensive course, at the heart of veterinary technology, involves mastery of essential skills. These essential skills include physical examinations, collection of samples for laboratory analysis, completion of radiographs, sterile pack and instrument preparation, client communication, drawing anesthetic drugs, and placing intravenous catheters. In addition, the skills of inducing, maintaining, and monitoring patients under general anesthesia are included. The dental procedures in this course include scaling, and polishing. Proper medical record documentation and dental charting are key components of this course.
