Catalog description

The course focuses on development of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to safely administer medications. Key concepts include therapeutic communication, health teaching, preparation, and administration of medication by the topical, oral, nasogastric, intradermal, subcutaneous and intramuscular routes. Students are introduced to the administration of intravenous fluids and medications within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act. Client monitoring and the legal implication of documenting medication administration are incorporated. Focus is placed on meeting the holistic needs of clients throughout the lifespan.
