Catalog description

This course offers an in-depth exploration of dental materials, focusing on their interactions within the oral environment. Emphasis is placed on understanding the standards and properties of dental materials, including gypsum products, mouth guards, whitening systems, dental bases, liners and cements, temporary restorations, and classifications for restorative dentistry. Students will study restorative materials, techniques for polishing dental restorations, and the use of removable prostheses, sealants, and implants. In the lab component, students will gain hands-on experience with key applications, such as the placement of pit and fissure sealants, insertion and finishing of restorative materials, polishing techniques, and the taking of alginate impressions. Practical skills will be further developed through the pouring and trimming of study models.
