Catalog description

This course introduces coding concepts using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codebooks. Students will apply coding guidelines and documentation standards to accurately assign and record codes for a variety of medical services, procedures, and diagnoses. Emphasis is placed on correct code selection, completion of related forms and documents, and the use of keyboarding skills essential for medical data entry and billing accuracy.
