Catalog description

This course examines fundamental pharmacology and safe medication administration in the clinical setting. Students learn drug classifications; indications, contraindications, and adverse reactions; routes of administration; regulatory requirements; and accurate dosage calculations, including pediatric, weight-based, and insulin calculations. Students also develop skills in interpreting medication orders; legal and accurate documentation; immunization scheduling; medication-safety protocols; and culturally responsive patient education.
