Catalog description

This course introduces students to medical insurance systems, claims processing, and the administrative procedures used in healthcare settings. Students will explore the role of the health insurance specialist, legal and regulatory guidelines, and diagnostic and procedural coding systems. Emphasis is placed on completing CMS-1500 and payer-specific insurance claims while maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards. Students will also develop keyboarding proficiency and perform basic life support (BLS), first aid, and emergency response procedures within the healthcare environment.
