Catalog description

This course examines patient intake and clinical support for examinations and procedures across general and specialty care. Students learn patient history gathering and documentation; vital signs and anthropometric measurement with basic interpretation; exam-room and patient preparation; assistance during physical, OB/Gyn, pediatric, geriatric, and mental health examinations; cardiology procedures; diagnostic imaging principles with patient preparation; and assistance in minor surgical procedures using sterile techniques. Students also develop skills in clear patient education, professional communication, effective teamwork, and accurate electronic health record documentation.
