Catalog description
This course examines dental hygiene procedures as well as the fundamentals of instrumentation and dental hygiene theory. Coursework addresses the history and scope of the dental hygiene profession and provides a perspective on this professional role on the dental team. In lab and clinical components, students apply the steps in the dental hygiene process of care to gain proficiency in providing comprehensive patient assessment and care. Additional topics include professionalism, ethics, infection control, basic dental equipment maintenance, and use of dental software. This course contains theory, lab and clinical components.
