Catalog description

A course that examines the concepts and procedures involved in teaching reading and language arts at various levels of the elementary school. Both K-2nd grade and 3rd-6th grade settings will be studied. The course is framed around the essential knowledge and skills set forth by the Common Core State Standards and the NC Standard Course of Study. Students will learn how to assess, teach, and provide literacy intervention in the classroom by applying knowledge of the science of reading.Prerequisite: C or better in ED 309
