Human Information Processing and Artificial Intelligence

Catalog description

This course will review the information-processing challenges that humans face. We will discuss how these challenges are dealt with in the domains of attention, perception, memory, problem solving, reasoning, decision-making, and language. We will compare and contrast how these challenges are dealt with by humans and artificial intelligence applications. The course will include a number of programming projects that try to solve specific information-processing demands that occur in particular tasks and simulate human information processing.
