Catalog description
This course is designed for students who have taken two semesters of Russian at Carnegie Mellon or the equivalent. It is offered in the fall only. This course furthers communicative proficiency through intensive practice in written and spoken Russian. Complex grammatical structures and stylistic variations are mastered and extensive vocabulary is acquired. Through reading materials, fictional and non-fictional, acquaintance is made with the basic components of Russian cultural literacy as well as the distinctive cultural aspects of daily Russian life. Attention is directed toward the dynamic interaction of language and culture in order to foster cross-cultural awareness.
