Documentary, Found Sound, and Hidden Frequencies in Language and Culture

This course is about telling stories with sound. You will learn how to record interviews, gather ambient and archival audio, and shape these materials into powerful, original work. The focus is on storytelling. You will explore how to structure a piece, how to work with voice and rhythm, and how to bring listeners into a scene or moment. Projects may include personal stories, audio portraits, or creative journeys. We may meet in person at the start of the course. Recording equipment and editing space will be available before students head away. The course can be taken remotely and fits well with internships or other summer plans.
