Catalog description
This course is a second-semester Arabic that builds on Elementary Arabic I. It is for learners who have completed a first-semester Arabic or its equivalent and wish to learn Modern Standard Arabic (MSA)????? ??????? ?????? / al-lu?a al-?arabiyya al-fu???, the language form used for reading, formal writing, and formal speaking (for example, in formal news media, lectures, religious sermons, etc...) and the Egyptian ???? and/or Levantine ???? dialects. This course continues to introduce students to Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) to achieve communicative competence at the Novice-High/Intermediate-Low level in all language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). The course covers five lessons of an interactive online textbook designed for second-semester Arabic. The online textbook contains all necessary audio-visuals, digital narratives, practice exercises, culture, and assessments. No need to purchase any supplementary material. This course follows a flipped-learning design. Students are responsible for preparation of the assigned modules before class, allowing to dedicate class time to active communication and skills-based practice in writing, reading, speaking, and listening. Prerequisites: 82-113 Min. grade C or 82-111 Min. grade C
