Seminar on Formal Epistemology: Uncertain Interpretations

There are a wide variety of logical formalisms that aim to capture (broadly speaking) "uncertainty about evidence/interpretation". These include non-partitional evidence structures, two-dimensional semantics, non-rigid propositional designators, action models, interagent ambiguity, syntactic definitions, and my own work on variable valuations. The purpose of this exploratory seminar is to get a handle on these different approaches in order to better understand the connections between them, their relative strengths and weaknesses (and appropriate use cases), and promising avenues for further development and research. No background in any of these specific topics will be assumed, but some general experience with modal logic will be essential (or at least, in special cases, concurrent enrollment in "Logics for Knowledge and Belief").
