Catalog description

Where do we get our ideas and images of college and the university? We might form an impression from news reports, statistics, and histories, but one other channel is fiction and film. Fiction and film about the university are common, with new books and movies appearing every year. What do they tell us about the American university? This course will look at a range of fictive and filmic representations of higher education, as well as give basic background in history, politics, and culture.
