Private Equity and Venture Capital

Catalog description

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to both venture capital and private equity, exploring their development as industries, key participants, organizational structures, and common contract terms. Students will examine how investors create value through financial, governance, and operational engineering, as well as how performance is measured and how it relates to investor compensation. The curriculum covers essential valuation techniques—including the venture capital method and the leveraged buyout (LBO) model—alongside an analysis of common exit strategies for investments.
