Catalog description
This class will be an in-depth analytical study of music of the Classical and Romantic periods. It will emphasize selected genres and forms by representative composers in order to trace the evolution of musical style, clarify the main characteristics of these periods, set the musical developments in broader cultural contexts, and apply this knowledge to practical decisions made by today's musicians. Prerequisite: 57-283
