Catalog description

This course introduces the principles, language, and technique in the art of choreography and composition as applicable to all areas of study in the School of Drama, including Acting/MT, Directing, Dramaturgy, Production Management, Dramatic Writing, Scenic, Media, Costume, Lighting, and Sound Design. This year-long course is organized into two semesters involving lectures, discussion, and project-based styles of engagement. Students will create a progressive series of assignments and studies in collaboration, improvisation, building a phrase, theme and variation, retrograde, deconstruction, abstraction, vocabulary, history, professional language, and dance vocabulary which culminate in studio presentations, dance on film, and site-specific work.
