Catalog description

This is a first semester, calculus-based introductory physics course for engineering students. Basic principles of mechanics and thermodynamics are developed. Topics include translational kinematics, the rotation of rigid bodies, Newton's laws of motion and gravitation, the dynamics of rotational motion, work and kinetic energy, impulse, momentum, angular momentum, temperature and heat, the kinetic theory of gases, equations of state, thermodynamic processes, the first and second laws of thermodynamics, and heat engines. This course has a co-requisite of 21-120 . Prerequisite: 21-090
