Catalog description

This course, required for all first-year masters students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, will cover fundamental and practical topics for their academic and professional development. The course offers ten one-hour workshop sessions throughout the fall semester. A short assignment will be given after each session. The sessions will cover three categories of topics: (1) career planning, (2) graduate study, and (3) social issues. The first category covers alumni panels, Ph.D. panels, and employer information. The second category covers time management and group dynamics. The third category covers diversity, equity and inclusion, ethics, and academic integrity.
