Electromechanical Systems Design

Catalog description

This course guides students through the design process as applied to mechatronic systems, which feature electrical, mechanical, and computational components. Lectures describe the typical design process and its associated activities, emphasizing methods for analyzing and prototyping mechatronic systems. Professional and ethical responsibilities of designers, interactions with clients and other professionals, regulatory aspects, and public responsibility are discussed. The design project is team-based and is based on a level of engineering knowledge expected of seniors. Proof of practicality is required in the form of descriptive documentation and a working prototype system at the end of the course.
