Computational Biology and Society

Catalog description

The increased effectiveness of algorithms and the increased availability of biomedical data has led to an expanded role of computational biology in medicine and society more broadly. This course will use a variety of sources in the science and media to explore different areas in which computational biology had made an impact on society. The course will consist of series of structured discussions around emerging topics in the field. Specific topics include bias in artificial intelligence, how computational biology is viewed in the media, and the ethics of de- extinction.
