Catalog description

This course examines the chemical and biochemical principles underlying drug action,including pharmacokinetics (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination),pharmacodynamics, and receptor-mediated interactions. Principles of enzyme kinetics, signaltransduction, and macromolecular structure-function relationships are presented in thecontext of how drugs produce their therapeutic effects. It is recommended that a studenttake Microbiology or Cell Biology before taking this course. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 201 OR BIOL 275 along with CHEM 227 AND CHEM 228 When Offered: Every Fall
