This course examines issues of identity, difference, and literary representation through the analysis of texts by American writers from groups underrepresented in traditional American literary canons. Students will explore how diverse writers negotiate the complex relationships among aesthetic, cultural, and political considerations in their work. Prerequisite(s): ENGL 300
