Catalog description

An examination of theory and research influencing the development of principles and strategies for promoting literacy development in young children. Development of oral language, writing and reading skills observed and studied, along with ideas for using assessment to inform practice in early childhood literacy. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the role of adults, environment and culture on literacy development, along with the understanding of what constitutes developmentally appropriate literature and literacy activities for young children.
