Microbiology and Immunology

Catalog description

An elementary analysis of the biology of microorganisms including microbial structure, metabolism, genetics, and diversity. Special emphasis is given to study techniques and the roles of microbes in ecology, health, and disease. Laboratory emphasizes aseptic technique and bacterial identification. This course is oriented for Biology Majors who wish to pursue advanced degrees (Medical, Dental, Optometry, Physician Assistant and graduate school), or for those who might seek employment in industry or research. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 111 , BIOL 201 , CHEM 111 , and CHEM 113 required; CHEM 227 , CHEM 228 recommended. When Offered: Fall, Spring semesters. Lecture/Lab Three lecture and three laboratory hours each week.
