Catalog description

All students working towards licensure in art education are required to complete this course before moving forward into 6-12 art teaching and methods course. This course encourages students to think critically and creatively as they explore and gain new knowledge in the following art education topics: historical and current philosophies in art education, artistic developmental stages, current methodology styles appropriate for k-5 school students, aligning with the state and national standards. Students will develop best practices in various art media and essential tools needed to design a comprehensive, functional k-5 visual art curriculum that connects with a personal refined art education philosophy.
