Introduces students to the basic principles of effective written communication as applied in a variety of prof essional settings (e.g., business, industry, government). Reviews elements of grammar, mechanics, and style as related to technical writing; trains students in collecting, organizing, presenting and documenting information in formal reports and in writing other kinds of documents (e.g., correspondence, proposals, manuals) appropriate to professional settings; encourages students to develop a sense of professionalism about their writing.
