Catalog description

Directed individual or group study of selected topics in education. The course may be repeated for additional credit with departmental permission. Independent study/directed readings 1 -3 hours. 003* INTRODUCTION TO TEACHING 3 credit hours. An introductory course in education; prerequisite to most education courses; introduces students to role of education in a democratic society, basic principles and techniques of teaching, sc ope and organization of public school system in the United States, and place of teacher in school and community. Additionally requires field component in the public schools.
