Catalog description

Students will be introduced to forensic social work working with children and youth -- its history and the evolution of multi-disciplinary approaches to child safety, permanency, and well-being. Students will engage theory, research, interventions, and policies related to the criminal, legal, and child welfare systems. Topics will include forensic interviewing, juvenile justice, family court, adverse childhood experiences and the consequences of trauma, services available to child victims of crimes, and evidence-based interventions in a variety of settings with diverse populations.
