Catalog description

Study and performance of traditional and contemporary mariachi repertoire rooted in Mexican and Mexican American musical traditions. Students develop stylistic fluency, ensemble communication, cultural understanding, and high-level performance skills through rehearsals and public concerts. Emphasis is placed on interpretation, performance practice, memorization, and collaborative musicianship. Open by audition to instrumentalists and vocalists with prior musical experience. May be repeated for credit.
