Catalog description

In this course, students learn contrapuntal techniques used in musical styles from the 16th century to the present. Students analyze extant works from a contrapuntal perspective, complete short composition exercises, and create original pieces in various historical styles. The styles and exercises will be designed to a large extent to fit the needs, preparation, and interest of individual students.
